The 44th edition of Festival de Otoño, the Comunidad de Madrid's international performing arts festival, brings theatre, dance and music to stages across the region. It opens with a posthumous tribute to Robert Wilson, who died in 2025, and joins the 250th anniversary of US independence through American artists.
What it is
The programme brings together 28 productions from 18 countries, including world, European and Spanish premieres. Robert Wilson's company inaugurates it with PESSOA - Since I’ve Been Me, a visual theatre piece built from texts by Fernando Pessoa and his heteronyms, with actress María de Medeiros leading the ensemble.
The US strand features choreographers Trajal Harrell, with the Zürich Dance Ensemble, and Faye Driscoll, with Sweden's Cullberg, plus Pachuquismo by La Mezcla and concerts by Berlin-based US singer Sorvina and Britain's Izo FitzRoy. Belgium's tg STAN, Cape Verdean choreographer Marlene Monteiro Freitas and creators from Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay and Chile complete the line-up.
The ÁGORA parallel programme adds free talks, short introductions before selected shows and conversations with artists afterwards. A new strand, Incursiones, takes theatre to Mercado de Vallehermoso on 13 November.
