The Island of Neverland is an immersive show at Espacio Delicias that pairs a life-size walk-through of Neverland with a contemporary theatre and acrobatics production. It comes from Spanish producer LETSGO and Italy's Balich Wonder Studio, and it is the world premiere of a story that steps away from a literal retelling of Peter Pan.
What it is
The experience unfolds in two parts. The first is the pre-show, which opens 30 minutes before the performance: visitors explore a world of pirates, lost boys, magical creatures and hidden corners, with games, activations and characters who interact with the audience along the way.
Then comes the main event, a theatre and acrobatics show performed in Spanish by an international cast, with Eduardo Ferrés as Captain Hook and Gabriel Lemière as Peter Pan. The story follows an original arc about choosing who you want to become, told through aerial work, trampwall and wire acts.
At the time of purchase, each visitor picks a side, Tribe or Pirates, and can arrive in costume or with small accessories. The seating zones are themed accordingly, but both sides watch the same show.
Why it's worth your time
The creative team is the distinguishing feature. Directors Simone Ferrari and Lulu Helbaek come from Balich Wonder Studio, the company behind 17 Olympic ceremonies, and the score is by John Metcalfe, who has produced and arranged for Coldplay and Peter Gabriel. The set is designed by Stéphane Roy, whose credits include several Cirque du Soleil productions, KURIOS among them. The format also suits mixed-age groups: it is designed for all audiences, and babies up to 12 months enter free if they do not take a seat.
Practical info
Enter through the side access next to the Madrid Railway Museum. There is no car park or cloakroom; Metro line 3 (Delicias) and Cercanías Delicias are a short walk away. Arriving 45 minutes before the listed time leaves room for the pre-show, and late entry is not guaranteed. Prams are left folded in an unsupervised area, and the show uses smoke and strobe effects.
