Weeks before Madrid hosts its first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Atlassian Williams F1 Team sets up a free fan zone in the heart of the city. Presented by Kraken, the activation takes over Plaza del Callao and the historic Cines Callao building for a week of simulators, memorabilia and driver appearances.

What it is

The centerpiece is a full-scale replica of the FW48, the car Williams races this season, parked in the middle of Callao for close-up photos. Around it, the team has built a reaction-time challenge branded with title sponsor Kraken, a haul-truck simulator supplied by partner Komatsu, and a bank of racing simulators set on a virtual lap of the MADRING circuit that will host the Madrid Grand Prix.

A separate corner traces Williams' history in Spanish motorsport, displaying race helmets worn by Carlos Sainz, Marc Gené and Pastor Maldonado alongside trophies from Spanish Grand Prix wins in Barcelona and Jerez. Exclusive Madrid-edition merchandise and a Williams x Marvel comic are also on show, and the zone includes an Estrella beer tasting station.

Why it's worth attending

This is the only Williams fan activation planned in the city center before the Madrid GP, and entry is free — a rare chance to see a real F1 show car up close without a race-weekend ticket. Team figures including Carlos Sainz, principal James Vowles and reserve driver Luke Browning are expected to make appearances during the week.

Practical info

Activities require the Williams Racing app, downloaded and registered on-site or in advance, so allow a few extra minutes before joining the simulators or challenges. Plaza del Callao sits directly above Callao metro station, making it an easy stop before or after shopping on Gran Vía.
