Every summer, the Glass Gallery of Cibeles Palace turns into a 700-seat cinema under a vast glass dome — climate-controlled, so the show goes on rain or shine. Cibeles de Cine returns for its eleventh edition with more than 70 films — from new releases to restored classics — running nightly from June to September.

What it is

Housed inside CentroCentro's restored glass-roofed courtyard, Cibeles de Cine screens a different film every night of the week, mixing awarded festival titles, box-office hits, cult classics marking anniversaries, and Saturday sessions dubbed for families. Most films are shown in their original version with Spanish subtitles, and every seat comes with wireless headphones for immersive sound.

The 2026 edition pays tribute to Spanish cinema, with a poster designed in homage to Juan Gatti's iconic artwork for Pedro Almodóvar's Volver, the film chosen to open this season.

Alongside the nightly screenings, the cycle runs recurring strands: Thursday's Campari Festival Sessions spotlight awarded arthouse titles, Friday's El País Sessions bring the summer's most talked-about releases, and Saturday afternoons are reserved for family-friendly favorites. A rotating calendar of special guests, themed collaborations, and a gastro-bar area open from 8pm round out the experience beyond the screen.

Why it's worth attending

Few Madrid venues combine cinema with an outdoor city landmark quite like this one: the courtyard sits inside the Palacio de Cibeles, steps from Plaza de Cibeles, with the Glass Gallery's ceiling open to the summer sky. The rotating programme spans over 70 titles in a single season, so there's a reason to return more than once — whether for a recent award-winner, a family classic, or a film marking a milestone anniversary.

Practical info

The venue opens at 8pm for the gastro-bar, art exhibition, and special events, with box office hours from 8pm to 10pm. Screenings start at 10pm sharp and latecomers cannot be seated once the film has begun. Wireless headphones are handed out at the entrance to the seating area and must be worn throughout. The space is wheelchair accessible, with adapted restrooms, a baby-changing area, and induction loops available on request.
